Functional hearing loss refers to a pseudo-auditory disorder in which patients have no organic lesions of the auditory system. It is a non-organic hearing loss, also known as psychogenic hearing loss or hysterical hearing loss. Some patients may have mild organic disorders, but the auditory impairment they exhibit exceeds their actual hearing.
