The external auditory canal is the ear region between the external auditory meatus and the tympanic membrane, with the outer one-third being cartilaginous and the inner two-thirds being bony. External auditory canal furuncle is an infectious disease affecting the hair follicles and surrounding tissues of the external auditory canal, predominantly occurring in the cartilaginous part, also known as "localized external otitis." Patients present with ear canal pain, generally without high fever. It is more common in summer and autumn.
