Cystic lymphangioma

Cystic lymphangioma is not a true neoplasm but a congenital benign hamartoma, resulting from tumor-like malformation when primitive lymphatic sacs in certain areas are isolated from the lymphatic system during embryonic development. This condition commonly occurs in the neck, especially the posterior triangle of the neck, and occasionally in the axilla, groin, and retroperitoneal region. It usually shows progressive, expansive growth, but can also remain stable, and in rare cases, may spontaneously regress.
