Detailed description
Acne, also known as acne vulgaris, commonly referred to as pimples or zits, is a common skin disease caused by inflammation of the pilosebaceous unit due to dead skin cells and oil blocking pores, and the proliferation of Propionibacterium acnes.
It commonly affects adolescents aged 15-25, accounting for 70%-87% of cases. Studies have found that 55.3% of male and 41.3% of female urban middle and high school students in China have experienced acne.
Acne vulgaris generally subsides or resolves after the age of 25.
