Radiation dermatitis

Radiation dermatitis refers to the inflammatory reaction of the skin and mucous membranes caused by various types of ionizing radiation, including radioisotopes and X-rays, leading to tissue damage. It is one of the most common side effects of tumor radiotherapy. This condition is common in cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy, especially those with breast cancer, head and neck cancer, lung cancer, or sarcoma. The main symptoms include hair loss, hyperpigmentation, dark red patches, blisters, skin atrophy, and absence of hair.
