Alopecia areata

Alopecia areata, commonly known as "spot baldness," is a sudden, localized, patchy hair loss condition. It manifests as sudden, circular or oval patches of hair loss, with the affected skin being smooth, without inflammation or scarring. It can occur at any age, but is more common in young and middle-aged adults. The etiology is currently unknown, but it may be related to factors such as autoimmunity, genetics, and emotional stress.
