Detailed description
Plantar warts are a type of common wart, which are benign growths caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection of the skin on the sole of the foot.
Due to their location on the sole of the foot, plantar warts are subjected to long-term pressure, leading to the formation of a yellowish, callus-like keratin layer on their surface. When this hyperkeratotic layer is pared away, small black dots can be observed.
