Furuncle

A boil, also known as a furuncle, is an acute bacterial suppurative inflammation of a single hair follicle and its surrounding tissues, often caused by Staphylococcus aureus. It commonly occurs on the head, face, neck, and buttocks. In the early stages, it presents as a small nodule with redness, swelling, heat, and pain. It gradually enlarges, and after several days, the center softens, and a yellowish-white pustule appears at the top. After rupture and discharge of pus, the inflammation gradually subsides and heals.
