Chilblains

Chilblains are a common skin condition that occurs in cold seasons (temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius). They are localized inflammatory skin lesions caused by cold, primarily affecting the extremities and exposed areas. The course of the disease is slow, lasting several months, often not healing until the following spring, and there is a high probability of recurrence in the next winter. For those who have had chilblains, if they recur in the following year, it is likely to be in the same location. This condition is common in children, young women, or individuals with poor peripheral circulation. The main symptoms include purplish-red patches, swelling, itching, and blistering of the skin. Itching intensifies with warmth. If ulcers or erosions occur, there may be pain.
