Cancer pain

Cancer pain refers to pain caused by cancer, cancer-related complications, and anti-cancer treatments. It is often chronic pain and is a common symptom in patients with advanced cancer. Cancer pain can manifest as sharp pain (a keen pain, similar to stabbing or cutting pain), throbbing pain (a pulsating sensation similar to a heartbeat in the painful area, possibly related to blood vessel pulsation in that area), or dull pain (a persistent, aching, or heavy pain). Due to the long-term presence of pain, patients may also develop psychological problems such as anxiety and depression.
