Air embolism

The blood circulatory system is the pathway through which blood flows in the body, consisting of blood, blood vessels, and the heart. It is a closed transport system, powered by the continuous beating of the heart, which propels blood to circulate within this system, supplying blood and oxygen to various organs of the human body. Air embolism refers to the entry of air into blood vessels, which then travels through the bloodstream to obstruct the main pathway of the pulmonary artery, blocking blood supply to the lungs and heart, leading to severe ischemia and hypoxia in vital organs such as the lungs, heart, and brain. This condition is extremely rare, with a slightly higher incidence during or after childbirth (including miscarriage). Main symptoms include chest discomfort, dyspnea, cough, coma, and agitation. As the condition progresses, signs of shock such as decreased blood pressure, cyanosis of the limbs, and weak pulse may appear.
