Spastic paraplegia

Spastic paraplegia is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by axonal degeneration and/or demyelination of the bilateral corticospinal tracts in the spinal cord, with the most severe involvement in the thoracic segment. It is mostly caused by family inheritance, primarily affecting children and adolescents, and is characterized by progressive increase in muscle tone and weakness in both lower limbs.
