Spinal arachnoiditis, also known as adhesive arachnoiditis, is a chronic inflammatory disease of the spinal cord. It can cause gradual thickening of the spinal arachnoid, adhesion of the spinal cord and nerve roots, or cyst formation, leading to abnormal spinal nerve function.
This disease ranks second in incidence among spinal cord compression syndromes. It is more common in males than females, with a higher incidence in middle-aged individuals between 30 and 60 years old.
