Cerebral paragonimiasis

Cerebral paragonimiasis is a disease caused by Paragonimus parasites in the human body that invade the brain. The main symptoms are headache, epilepsy, abnormal limb movement and sensation, numbness of limbs, discoordination, and even stiffness and paralysis. This disease is currently prevalent in 23 provinces and regions in North China, East China, Southwest China, and South China. Patients with cerebral paragonimiasis account for 2% to 5% of the population in endemic areas, with children and adolescents being more common.
