Chronic superficial gastritis, also known as chronic non-atrophic gastritis, refers to an inflammatory lesion of the superficial gastric mucosa caused by various factors, but without gastric mucosal atrophy or metaplasia.
Most patients with chronic superficial gastritis have no obvious symptoms. For those who do experience symptoms, upper abdominal pain is the predominant complaint, often accompanied by loss of appetite, belching, acid reflux, and nausea.
