Duodenitis

The duodenum is located between the stomach and the jejunum, and is named for its length, which is equivalent to the width of twelve fingers. Duodenitis refers to acute or chronic inflammation of the duodenum caused by various etiologies, primarily manifesting as upper abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, hematemesis, and melena. It is more common in young and middle-aged adults, with a significantly higher incidence in males than females.
