Enterovirus 71 (EV71) infection is an acute intestinal infectious disease and a major cause of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD). This disease is common in children under 5 years old. The main symptoms include rashes on the hands, feet, mouth, and buttocks, which may be accompanied by fever, cough, runny nose, and loss of appetite.
