Mental retardation

Mental retardation, also known as intellectual disability or mental developmental delay, is a common developmental disorder in children. It refers to a developmental disorder characterized by significantly lower intellectual functioning than the average for the same age group during the developmental period (before 18 years of age), accompanied by difficulties in social adaptation. Mental retardation is one of the main causes of lifelong disability in children. It is primarily manifested by difficulties in social adaptation and low self-care abilities in learning and daily life.
