Diabetes insipidus

Diabetes insipidus is a condition caused by a deficiency of antidiuretic hormone. Patients experience thirst, drink large amounts of water, and excrete large volumes of low-specific-gravity urine. Diabetes insipidus can occur at any age, but it is more common in adolescents. The incidence is higher in males than in females, with a male-to-female ratio of approximately 2:1.
