Primary aldosteronism

Primary aldosteronism, also known as Conn's syndrome, is a disease characterized by excessive secretion of aldosterone by the adrenal cortex, leading to water and sodium retention in the body, increased potassium excretion in urine, and consequently, hypertension and hypokalemia. Hypertension is the earliest and most common manifestation of this disease, often discovered during routine blood pressure measurements. The peak incidence age is between 30 and 50 years, with a higher prevalence in females than males.
