Iodine deficiency

Iodine deficiency is a general term for a series of diseases caused by insufficient iodine intake from birth to adulthood, mainly including endemic goiter and endemic cretinism. Iodine deficiency is influenced by environmental factors, dietary factors, immune factors, drug factors, and systemic malnutrition. Pregnant women, fetuses and newborns, children, and residents of inland mountainous areas far from the sea are susceptible to iodine deficiency.
