Bone density

Bone mineral density (BMD) refers to the amount of bone mineral per unit volume (volumetric density) or per unit area (areal density) of bone. It is an important indicator of bone strength, capable of predicting fracture risk or monitoring treatment response for related diseases. BMD is typically measured using X-rays. BMD measurement is currently the most common method used to diagnose osteoporosis, predict fracture risk, and evaluate the effectiveness of drug treatments.
