Detailed description
Seronegative spondyloarthropathy, also known as spondyloarthritis or spondyloarthrosis, is a group of systemic inflammatory diseases primarily characterized by spinal and peripheral joint involvement, with multi-systemic manifestations.
It mainly affects the axial skeleton (trunk bones), often involving the sacroiliac joints, hip joints, spinal joints, and their adjacent ligamentous tissues. This leads to low back pain and stiffness, and in severe cases, can result in joint ankylosis (joint stiffness with restricted movement) and spinal deformity.
It is more common in young males, with a prevalence of approximately 0.25% in China.
