Fibromyalgia Syndrome

Fibromyalgia syndrome is a condition characterized by pain in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. It is a chronic musculoskeletal pain syndrome of unknown etiology, classified as a rheumatic immune disease. It can be divided into primary and secondary types. Primary (idiopathic) fibromyalgia syndrome: Not associated with any organic disease, meaning there is no damage to internal organs, only symptoms like pain. Secondary fibromyalgia syndrome: Considered to be secondary to other diseases, such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, which may be accompanied by fibromyalgia syndrome. This condition commonly affects individuals aged 20 to 70, with a higher prevalence in women. The main symptom is widespread pain throughout the body, with symmetrically distributed tender points. It is often accompanied by various problems such as fatigue, poor sleep, and cognitive impairment (e.g., poor memory).
