Detailed description
Behcet's disease, also known as Behcet syndrome or the oculo-oral-genital syndrome, is a chronic, variable, systemic vasculitis. It is clinically characterized by recurrent oral ulcers, genital ulcers, and ocular inflammation, and can also involve multiple organs such as the digestive, cardiovascular, and nervous systems.
Due to its prevalence in East Asia, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean region, it is often referred to as "Silk Road disease." The disease commonly affects individuals aged 16-40 years, with no significant difference in incidence between sexes, although organ involvement is more frequently observed in male patients.
