Staphylococcal pneumonia is an acute suppurative lung disease caused by Staphylococcus infection.
It is more common in immunocompromised individuals.
The disease has an acute onset, often accompanied by high fever, chills, and chest pain. Patients cough up purulent sputum, which is abundant, may be streaked with blood, or appear pink and milky. The condition is severe, with a high mortality rate.
