Acute respiratory distress syndrome

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) refers to acute diffuse lung injury and subsequent acute respiratory failure caused by various pathogenic factors. It is pathologically characterized by alveolar capillary damage, manifesting as refractory hypoxemia that generally does not improve with oxygen therapy. ARDS is the abbreviation for the English full name of acute respiratory distress syndrome. The main symptoms are increased respiratory rate, which may be accompanied by increased heart rate. Patients subjectively experience shortness of breath and labored breathing.
