Lobar pneumonia

Lobar pneumonia is an acute inflammation of the lungs caused by bacterial, viral, mycoplasmal, and other infections (primarily Streptococcus pneumoniae). The lesion typically affects all or most of a lung lobe, hence the name lobar pneumonia. This disease is common in young and middle-aged adults and is more prevalent in winter and spring. Key symptoms include sudden high fever, accompanied by cough, rust-colored sputum, chest pain, and generalized muscle aches.
