Viral pneumonia

Viral pneumonia is an inflammation of the lung interstitium and parenchyma caused by viruses invading the epithelial cells of the respiratory tract and alveoli. It often results from the downward spread of an upper respiratory tract viral infection. This disease commonly affects individuals with weakened immune systems. The main symptoms include fever, sore throat, dry cough, and generalized body aches.
