Kidney atrophy

Renal atrophy is a pathological condition where the entire kidney shrinks in size due to damage to nephrons caused by various diseases, injuries, or congenital factors. It refers to a kidney volume that is relatively small or significantly reduced compared to individuals of the same age, sex, height, and weight. Most cases are accompanied by abnormal kidney function, and in many instances, it is a manifestation of end-stage renal disease.
