Acute renal failure

Acute kidney failure is a clinical syndrome characterized by a rapid decline in glomerular filtration rate, leading to the retention of nitrogenous waste products in the body, disturbances in water, electrolyte, and acid-base balance, and subsequent complications in various systems. It is more common in elderly men and can manifest with symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, swelling, and flank pain.
