Nephroptosis

Nephroptosis refers to the kidney moving beyond its normal range of motion with breathing or changes in body posture. A normal kidney typically has a mobility of up to 3 cm with breathing. This condition is more common in young and middle-aged adults aged 20-40, and rare in children and the elderly. It often occurs in young, thin women (male to female ratio approximately 1:3 to 1:10), with 70% occurring on the right side, 10% on the left side, and 20% involving both kidneys.
