Detailed description
Multiple myeloma is a malignant tumor that originates in plasma cells. Normally, plasma cells produce antibodies that protect the body from various pathogens, injuries, and other adverse factors.
Plasma cells are produced in the bone marrow. In multiple myeloma, the bone marrow produces an excessive amount of plasma cells, while failing to produce the normal blood cells the body needs. This leads to a series of symptoms such as anemia and bone pain.
