Tuberculous peritonitis

Tuberculous peritonitis is a chronic, diffuse peritoneal infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Based on pathological anatomical characteristics, it can be classified into three types: exudative, adhesive, and caseous, with the former two being more common. During the progression of the disease, a mixed type with 2-3 coexisting types may occur. Tuberculous peritonitis is more common in young and middle-aged individuals, with a slightly higher incidence in females than males. The main symptoms include fatigue, fever, abdominal distension, and abdominal pain.
