Cytomegalovirus infection

Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is one of the most common pathogens, causing hearing loss and neurodevelopmental delay in children. In immunocompromised individuals, CMV infection can be life-threatening. CMV infection is a congenital or acquired infection caused by cytomegalovirus. CMV infection is very common in the population, but often without obvious symptoms. Neonatal CMV infection can have severe consequences.
