Epstein-Barr virus infection

EB virus infection means infection with the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). EBV is a member of the Lymphocryptovirus genus within the Herpesviridae family. It is the causative agent of infectious mononucleosis and is closely associated with the development of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and childhood lymphoma, being classified as one of the human tumor viruses potentially causing cancer. This disease commonly affects children and adolescents, but adults can also be infected. Common symptoms include headache, fatigue, fever, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, generalized lymphadenopathy, hepatosplenomegaly, and rash.
