Detailed description
Xerostomia is one of the common clinical symptoms, caused by various factors, and is more prevalent in middle-aged and elderly women.
The pathogenesis of xerostomia is mostly due to reduced saliva secretion, leading to a dry mouth sensation. Patients may also experience a foreign body sensation or burning sensation. When chewing food, especially dry food, they may be unable to form a bolus, thus affecting swallowing.
