Syringomyelia

Syringomyelia is a chronic, progressive degenerative disease of the spinal cord, characterized by the formation of a tubular cavity within the spinal cord. The cavity often occurs in the cervical spinal cord, and when it affects the medulla oblongata, it is called syringobulbia. It commonly occurs between 20 and 30 years of age, and its main manifestations include sensory disturbances, motor disturbances, skin and neurotrophic disturbances, and joint lesions.
