Skull base tumors

Skull base tumors refer to tumors that originate and grow in the skull base and surrounding tissues, including tumors of the brainstem, the superior surface of the skull base bone, the skull base bone itself, and the inferior surface of the skull base bone. These tumors can extend cranially, invading the intracranial cavity, or caudally, affecting areas such as the orbit, paranasal sinuses, nasal cavity, infratemporal fossa, and parapharyngeal space. They encompass a wide variety of tumor types, many of which are rare. Due to the diverse nature and extensive scope of skull base tumors, they can be observed in all age groups. Relatively, the incidence of discovery is higher in adulthood.
