Cerebrospinal fluid leak

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is a colorless, transparent fluid found in the ventricles and subarachnoid space. The production, absorption, and flow of CSF play a crucial role in the dynamics of intracranial pressure. When the CSF cavity communicates with the outside, leading to CSF leakage, it is called cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea or otorrhea. CSF leakage can alter CSF pressure, leading to a series of neurological symptoms, most commonly headache. It is more common in adults. The incidence in children is significantly lower than in adults due to their softer and more elastic skulls and incompletely developed paranasal sinuses.
