Detailed description
Esophageal cancer, also known as cancer of the esophagus, is a malignant tumor originating from the epithelial cells of the esophagus. It primarily manifests as a choking sensation, foreign body sensation, retrosternal pain, or significant dysphagia when swallowing food. If metastasis or invasion of adjacent organs occurs, pain and corresponding discomfort in the affected organs may develop.
In China, esophageal cancer ranks approximately 6th in incidence among all malignant tumors and 4th in mortality. Both the incidence and mortality rates of esophageal cancer are higher in men than in women, with the peak age of onset being 45-80 years.
