Costochondritis

Costochondritis refers to an inflammatory reaction of the cartilage at the junction of the sternum and ribs, characterized by localized pain in the anterior chest wall, often accompanied by a sensation of swelling. The pain may worsen with pressure or activity in the area. It is a common clinical condition. Based on the etiology, it can be classified into infectious (suppurative) costochondritis and non-specific costochondritis.
