Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is a genetic cardiomyopathy characterized by asymmetric ventricular hypertrophy. Most cases involve predominant left ventricular hypertrophy, with right ventricular hypertrophy being rare. It is one of the leading causes of sudden death in adolescents and athletes. The main symptoms of this disease include dyspnea, chest pain, palpitations, syncope, and fatigue during physical activity. Some patients may remain asymptomatic for a long time, while others may present with sudden death as the first symptom.
