Congenital preauricular fistula

Congenital preauricular fistula refers to a small hole located above the ear and at the junction with the face. Most cases are unilateral, but some are bilateral. It is a congenital ear developmental anomaly primarily caused by genetic factors. Normally, there are no symptoms, only a small depression on the skin near the external ear. When squeezed, a small amount of white or yellow discharge may exude. After infection, symptoms such as redness, swelling, pain, and abscess formation may occur.
