Pediatric meningitis refers to an acute inflammatory disease of the meninges in children, caused by various infectious agents such as viruses, bacteria, or other microorganisms (e.g., fungi, mycoplasma, spirochetes). The more common types of meningitis are viral meningitis and bacterial meningitis. Main symptoms include fever, headache, vomiting, and seizures.
