Kidney deficiency refers to the insufficiency of kidney essence and qi, or the deficiency of kidney yin and yang, including kidney qi deficiency, kidney yang deficiency, kidney yin deficiency, and kidney essence deficiency. The main causes of kidney deficiency include congenital insufficiency, emotional imbalance, excessive sexual activity, chronic illness damaging the kidneys, and aging. Main Manifestations: Kid Qi Deficiency Kidney qi weakness: Also known as kidney qi instability. Main symptoms include soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, hearing loss, frequent urination or incontinence. Men may experience seminal emission and premature ejaculation, while women may have thin, clear vaginal discharge. Other signs include pale complexion, shortness of breath, fatigue, a pale, swollen tongue with teeth marks, a thin white coating, and a thready, weak pulse. Kidney failing to grasp qi: Shortness of breath, severe asthma with exertion, or asthma with sweating, and urinary incontinence. The tongue is pale with a thin coating, and the pulse is weak. Kidney Yang Deficiency Kidney yang not invigorating: Soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, aversion to cold and cold limbs, frequent clear night urination, pale complexion, dizziness, tinnitus, impotence, and seminal emission. The tongue is pale, and the pulse is deep and weak. Kidney deficiency with water overflow: Generalized edema, especially in the lower limbs, oliguria, or abundant clear phlegm, cough, and asthma. The tongue is pale with a white coating, and the pulse is deep and slippery. Kidney Yin Deficiency Kidney yin deficiency: Emaciation, soreness and weakness of the waist and legs, dizziness, tinnitus, forgetfulness, insomnia, seminal emission, and premature ejaculation. The tongue is red with little coating, and the pulse is thready. Yin deficiency with exuberant fire: Tidal fever and night sweats, five-palm heat, vexation and insomnia, dizziness, flushed cheeks and lips, soreness and pain in the waist and knees, dry mouth and throat, nocturnal emission. The tongue is red with little coating, and the pulse is thready and rapid. Kidney Essence Deficiency: In children, delayed development, intellectual disability, and soft bones; in adults, decreased sexual function, oligospermia in men, and amenorrhea and infertility in women; premature aging, tinnitus, deafness, memory loss. The tongue is pale, and the pulse is weak.
