View detailsAzoospermia
In a broad sense, azoospermia includes both aspermia and azoospermia, but what we commonly refer to as azoospermia specifically means azoospermia. Azoospermia refers to the absence of sperm in multiple semen analyses (usually 3 or more times), accounting for approximately 10% to 15% of male infertility cases. This condition typically has no obvious clinical symptoms, mainly manifesting as male infertility, and may also be accompanied by testicular atrophy, sexual dysfunction, and other symptoms.
View detailsNecrospermia
Necrospermia is characterized by a low percentage of live sperm and a high percentage of immotile sperm in the semen. It is a clinical syndrome caused by various etiologies, primarily manifesting as male infertility.
View detailsAsthenozoospermia
Asthenozoospermia is diagnosed when a patient has a normal sperm concentration but reduced sperm motility, meaning that within 1 hour after ejaculation, the percentage of progressively motile sperm is less than 32%, or the total sperm motility is less than 40%. Apart from a lower chance of conception, there are usually no other symptoms.
View detailsOligospermia
Oligospermia refers to a condition where the total sperm count (or concentration) is below the lower reference limit in 2-3 routine semen analyses. According to the 5th edition of the WHO (World Health Organization) reference values, this means a sperm concentration of <15×10^6/ml or a total sperm count of <39×10^6/ml. Based on WHO standards, oligospermia can be further classified into: Mild oligospermia: 10 ≤ sperm concentration < 15×10^6/ml. Moderate oligospermia: 5 ≤ sperm concentration < 10×10^6/ml. Severe oligospermia: 1 ≤ sperm concentration < 5×10^6/ml. Profound oligospermia: sperm concentration < 1×10^6/ml. Cryptozoospermia: no sperm are found in a fresh semen smear, but sperm can be detected in the centrifuged pellet.
View detailsInfertility
Infertility refers to the condition where a woman is unable to conceive due to various reasons. Medically, infertility is defined as the inability of a woman of reproductive age to become pregnant after one year of regular unprotected sexual intercourse. The incidence of infertility is relatively high and has shown an increasing trend in recent years.
View detailsMale infertility
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) standards, male infertility is defined as the inability of a couple of reproductive age to conceive after one year of regular unprotected sexual intercourse, where the female partner has no infertility issues, and the cause is attributed to the male partner. The epidemiological data for male infertility vary widely. According to WHO statistics, the prevalence of infertility in developing countries ranges from 8% to 25%, with male factors alone potentially accounting for 20% to 30% of these cases.
