Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), also known as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, is a neurodevelopmental disorder that begins in childhood and is characterized by age-inappropriate inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. ADHD often begins in preschool and has a chronic course, with symptoms persisting into adolescence in 70% of affected children and into adulthood in 30%-50%.
