Intestinal amebiasis

Intestinal amebiasis is an infectious disease caused by the parasitic protozoan Entamoeba histolytica, which infects humans and invades the intestines. The incidence of this disease is generally higher in rural areas than in urban areas, and more common in adults than in children. The infection rate is closely related to local environmental sanitation, economic levels, and living habits. Patients primarily present with diarrhea, abdominal pain, and mucoid bloody stools. In typical cases, the stool resembles strawberry jam.
