Tourette's syndrome, also known as tic disorder or Tourette's disorder, and also referred to as facial muscle twitching and vocal cord twitching syndrome, is a neurological disorder characterized by recurrent, involuntary tics involving multiple body parts and vocal (speech) tics. The onset of Tourette's syndrome typically occurs between 5 and 10 years of age, with the most severe symptoms appearing between 10 and 12 years of age. It is significantly more common in males than in females.
